I think iTrolls looks interesting, but the font is too small to read without manipulating the image, which is too much bother for a cartoon. Yet, on my screen, the image has a good inch of bare space on each side. Why not increase the the image size in the HTML?

JR - ATPM's site has a standard width (as you see on this page) for all images. Bear in mind that just because you see white space in the main body column, doesn't mean everyone else does. Some people might have a narrower browser window than you.
You can click on these cartoons and display them bigger, but I can see that while some lines of text are better, other lines are still tough to read. This size is how the artist/author submitted the cartoons. I'd recommend contacting the artist. Perhaps if enough people chime in about it, it'll make a difference!
