Hi. I think all the lighthouses in this series are wonderful. I collect lighthouses. The pictures are unique and one of a kind and don't need any work. Keep up the great work you do.

Could you tell me where you took Currituck Light 2? You took it beneath a bridge, right?

Anonymous - yes beneath a bridge. There's sort of a little park like area adjacent to Currituck's parking area (the parking is in-between the light and the park). The bridge is actually just a small footbridge going over a small canal.

Thanks for posting lighthouse photos. My local library (Santa Fe, NM) has only one junior-reader book about lighthouses--that's all! I'm looking for lighthouse ideas for my next quilt-making project.

Idahoan - ATPM's desktop wallpaper series are published strictly by submission. I've submitted the better photos from all of my lighthouse sightseeing excursions. If I ever manage to take another trip to see more, I'm sure to submit them. On that note, ATPM welcomes anyone to submit their own shots (lighthouses or otherwise) for possibly inclusion in a future issue.

Steve - hmm, I think I'd love to get some night shots. I have no idea when my next lighthouse sightseeing trip will be, but I'll keep the idea in mind. Generally, when I've gone on such trips, my family has an agenda to see certain spots then get to a particular site to stay overnight. I've only once stayed at a campground that was in vicinity of a lighthouse. It didn't occur to me to take night shots but, as you can see in one of the shots on this page, I did take one at dusk.

You need to have more lighthouses pictures up close without so much surrounding areas, but good job on what you do have and for making them available.

Bryan - I happen to like surrounding scenery in my lighthouse photos, therefore that is how I take them (and submit them). We'd by very happy to accept your submission of lighthouse photos for desktop wallpaper images that are composed more to your liking. But I have to point out, when you take a picture of a lighthouse without holding the camera sideways in order to give the orientation suitable for desktop wallpaper, and still pretty much fill the frame top to bottom with the lighthouse (as I did in about 3/4 of these images!), it leaves quite a bit of area in the frame that you have to fill with something!

Does anyone know how I can get a shadowed picture of a lighthouse with the beams shining? I want to be able to type over the lighthouse. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. These lighthouses are very beautiful, by the way. Great job!

I just found this site and have nothing to say about it except it is absolutely terrific. Thanks for putting it up and sharing it with so many people. It's just wonderful and I appreciate it so very much. I hope you don't mind, but I'm sharing the site address to some of the seniors I'm teaching so they can learn to download pictures, save them, send them, and incorporate them in documents. It's very helpful to have some great pictures for them to work from rather than dull clip art.

Hi,
I was looking for pics of lighthouses for a student council campaign( let me be your guiding light) and here I am looking at these. I'm from the Caribbean and they're pretty cool however I never had any personal interest in lighthouses though the first time I ever saw one I said wow... I think it's just becuase that beams hits so far out. So can you tell me what it is about lighthouses that is really so fascinating? Thanks

First off, nice composition. I really enjoyed your use of light and angles. Being a native-born North Carolinian that was relocated to the midwest I revisit your site when I get homesick ... and I have to admit that I am somewhat of a lover of the lighthouses. Hataras is my personal love, but I am not going to pick on the others! Thanks for sharing...and keep sharing please. Would love to see your other work from one photographer to another.
