Check eBay for people selling used machines.

Another factor of reliability is the operating system version. OS X 10.4 is more reliable than older versions, but a machine this old really starts slowing down much past 10.2. Some iMacs cannot even run 10.4.

Worth? Compare selling prices on eBay—that's usually the best gauge of what people believe they're worth.
